When she was just a small mouse, Anastasia's family would speak fondly of what their service to the Empire would one day earn them: a lavish home that would put their little shack to shame, grand meals unlike the watery soup and bread they ate every day, and all of the jewels and riches they could ever hope to want.
But time passed, and her family never saw the fruits of their labour. Anastasia grew jaded as it became clearer and clearer that the Empire saw them as nothing more than tools to be used and discarded when no longer fit for work. When her father bought her the dress she had her eye on, it was bittersweet, knowing what he had sacrificed to make her happy.
Eventually, the ravages of time and ceaseless labour took their toll, and Anastasia was left responsible for her siblings. It was only natural that she also became protective of the local urchins, picking fights with the Empire's bully soldiers and local drunkards alike who both threatened what little peace existed on the streets. More and more, she came to believe this could not stand. Anastasia began to discreetly reach out to like-minded individuals, but the minutiae of planning and strategy was not her forte. It was when Natasha Pola turned up on Anastasia's doorstep that the winds of fortune finally blew in her favour and the seeds of rebellion saw fit to bloom. Now, Anastasia serves as Natasha's second-in-command and trusted confidant. She wields the Crystal Rose, an ancient Altiziman artefact bestowed by the princess upon her most trusted royal knight as a sign of utmost faith in their capability... and, in this case, as a symbol of rebellion against the very same traditions that have kept the people of the Wastes under the Empire's boot for far too long.
